Dorchester Illustration of the Day no. 1891
The G & G Deli was located at the corner of Blue Hill Avenue and Columbine Street, now named Ansel Road. The G & G Deli was the scene of many political rallies, especially for those who ran for the position of Mayor and City Council.
Columbine Street was re-named for Julius Ansel, who was born April 27, 1908 in Russia, and died March 13, 1965 in Boston. He was a member of the Boston City Council from 1948 to 1951, the Massachusetts House of Representatives from 1953 to 1955 and again from 1959 to 1965, and the Massachusetts Senate in 1965. He was an unsuccessful candidate for Mayor of Boston in 1963.
