The Dorchester Historical Society conducted a study of its facilities to determine physical needs.
After the successful restoration of the exterior of the James Blake House, the Society has decided to turn its attention to the Clapp Family Barn.
The Barn is a unique resource in the City of Boston and is in need of structural repairs as well as replacement of roof and siding. Please click on the link below to see a description of the barn project.
The Society hopes to begin the process of replacing the rotten foundation sills in the barn in 2011. Structural engineer John Wathne of Structures North has performed an initial examination (January, 2011) of the structural elements of the barn and will proceed to complete a full report.
