The Clapp Family Barn

Early in the 20th century, the Dorchester Historical Society conducted a study of its facilities to determine physical needs.

After the successful restoration of the exterior of the James Blake House, the Society turned its attention to the Clapp Family Barn.

The Barn is a unique resource in the City of Boston and was in need of structural repairs as well as replacement of roof and siding. Similarly, structural work, roof and siding was also required on the Carriage House. This work was carried out in the years 2011 through 2013.  Final carpentry work and repainting of both the barn and the Carriage House was done in 2018.
